The Clone Wars: A Saving Grace for Star Wars

Star_Wars_The_Clone_Wars

Another miserable Irish summer, another TV series on Netflix to splurge on.

To start binging on The Clone Wars made sense to me, because I’m back in. I’ve become an addict to Star Wars once again. It happens in waves, the last one was some time ago, possibly around the release of Revenge of the Sith. That was a whole ten years ago, which freaks me out a little. I remember seeing it, and the two before it, in the cinema. So many years ago now. I’m getting old.

With The Force Awakens being unleashed on us this December, beginning the brand new steamrolling of Star Wars all over the world with Disney at the helm, I wanted to get back into the groove. Watching The Clone Wars seemed the best way to do that.

Fleetwood Mac in Dublin: The Perfect Drama

20140326-fleetwood-x624-1395869103

I planned on this being a review of the Fleetwood Mac concert in Dublin’s 3Arena, but after being there, I found I couldn’t do that. I just wanted to gush, to try and put into words how much I goddamn love this band.

This is my first Mix Tape, a once-per-month post with a small selection of some of my favourite songs.

“I Haven’t Seen It”, and Why That’s Okay

TV-RemoteI did it. I came out. I said it to my friends, and most of them were initially shocked. Some didn’t believe me, but most came around to what I said.

I told them that I hadn’t seen Forrest Gump. Or The Godfather. Or many other of the movies that men my age incessantly talk about.

Radio: A Man’s World?

radio-tuning-1094

I wasn’t expecting to be writing a blog post on radio tonight, but here I am!

RTÉ Radio 1, which is one of the most listened to radio stations in Ireland, just announced that Ray D’Arcy, who’s certainly one of the most respected and well-regarded presenters in the country, is coming back to them after 14 years on another commercial station. Why am I writing about such a fairly menial thing? Because I was hoping radio in Ireland was about to get shook up.
